Matter and chemical reactions

Particles first, then what happens when substances react, measured and written as equations.

The particle model is the foundation of school chemistry. Once students can picture particles in solids, liquids and gases, acids and bases make sense as substances with particular properties, and chemical equations become a way of counting particles that rearrange.
